This unique sweatshirt is a poetic materialization of a farewell letter to a beloved family member. Every detail is carefully crafted to encapsulate a personal and emotional narrative, making it more than just a piece of clothing – it’s a wearable tribute.

The front of the sweatshirt features a hand-printed graphic in a deep green hue. Dominating the design is a skull and crossbones. Above the skull,  “Arkivet” (The Archive) is prominently displayed, in this case reffering to a collection of cherished memories. Below, the text “Fra Nord” (From the North) and the year “1946” ground the design in a very specific time and place.

The back of the sweatshirt continues the narrative with more hand-printed text and symbols in matching green. At the top, the year “1946” is flanked by two stars, symbolizing guidance and remembrance. Merci Jack.” This translates to: “Open letters to J.S.O.: On June 23, 1946, Jack S. Olsen was born. Many years later, he became my best friend. He taught me to be ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN. He used to hoist a pirate flag when I visited him… Thank you, Jack.” The message, ending with “23. Juni ’46 – 28. Avril ’22,” marks the life span of Jack S. Olsen, encapsulating a lifetime.

This sweatshirt is meticulously hand-printed, ensuring each piece is infused with a personal touch. The raw, handwritten scanned note of the back design adds a layer of authenticity and intimacy, making it a personal letter worn close to the heart. In wearing this sweatshirt, one not only embraces the material of the shirt, but also carries with them a real story of friendship, rebellion, and cherished memories. It’s a heartfelt tribute to the impact one person can have on another’s life, captured forever in a tangible, wearable form: The core of Arkivet Fra Nord.
